The thermometer offers a relative comparison of how your planned holiday compares to other holidays. The colour range goes from dark red for the holidays that have the highest emissions to dark green for the holidays that have the lowest emissions, accommodation and transport included.

Dark-red holidays emit over 2000 kg CO2e for travel and accommodation in total. Furthermore, light red holidays emit 500–2000 kg CO2e, yellow 200–500 kg CO2e, light green 50–200 kg CO2e, and dark green below 50 kg CO2e per holiday. Dark-red holidays are typically to destinations on another continent which requires long-haul air travel, and light-red holidays are typically to destinations within and close countries in Europe by air.

Considerable reduction in emissions can be achieved by changing mode of transport to one with a smaller climate load, or by choosing a closer destination.
